Having polished off the Ramborn Medium Dry Cider – and very tasty it was too – it would have been just plain rude not to tackle the bottle of perry that Ramborn’s PR company sent me along with the cider.

The same basic principles apply to the perry – locally sourced fruit, 100% juice, sustainably produced, socially responsible. In other words, everything that’s wonderful about the industry and the people that dedicate their lives to making cider (and perry) properly.

It’s made with traditional Luxembourgish pear varieties including Luxemburger Mostbirne and Nelchesbirne.

Lush and elegant and all the way from Luxembourg.

TASTING NOTES, AFTER A FASHION:

It pours a lovely pale yellow gold in the glass with lots of tiny little delicate bubbles. So far so good.

On the nose it’s crisp, lively pears and a wave of tropical fruit. Absolutely lush. A full, enthralling bouquet but delicate.

In the mouth it’s sweet and luscious. More crisp pear complemented by more rich, ripe tropical fruit notes, maybe lychee? It’s quite full in body with a bold, assertive astringency that works well alongside the sweetness. Very crisp and gloriously refreshing.

The finish is balanced, dry and fruity. A really luxurious and elegant perry.
